This template sets up a church youth talent test, the kind of one-day or weekend event where young people and adults from congregations compete in singing, speaking, writing, drawing, Bible knowledge and instrumental music. A coordinator opens an event that already carries the age groups, the 17 items, the participant types, the rank points and the grade bands, instead of building the schedule from a blank catalogue. It suits a district, region or association of congregations that runs the same talent test every year and wants entries, judging sheets and results in one place.
Entrants compete in four age groups counted on a single fixed date: Juniors (15 to 21), InterMediate (22 to 30), Seniors (31 to 40) and Super Seniors (42 and over). Two further categories sit beside them. Common holds the items that are not tied to age, namely Classical Music, Bible Drawing and the five Instrumental Music types (string, wind, laya, western and electronic). Group holds the three team items: Group Song Vocals, Group Song Orchestra and Group Bible Quiz. Common and Group both run from 15 to 40, so anyone who fits them also fits an individual age group.
Not every group runs every item. The individual age groups run Song, Elocution, Bible Quiz, Essay Writing, Story Writing, Poem Writing and Bible Verses, and Song is contested separately for male and female entrants, so each age group has two Song competitions. Super Seniors runs a reduced list of Song, Elocution, Bible Quiz and Essay Writing. Each item has its own page on this site covering how a round runs, what the panel weighs and how to prepare.
Scoring is out of 10 per item. Placings earn rank points that favour teams: 5, 3 and 1 for first, second and third in an individual item, and 7, 5 and 3 for a team item. On top of that, a score of 6 or more earns an A grade worth 5 bonus points, 5 or more a B grade worth 3, and 4 or more a C grade worth 1, for both individuals and teams. The template does not fix team sizes, the number of items one person may enter, or how winners move between rounds, so the organiser sets those in the event rules.
